Meet the Doctor 


 

Dr. Hart received his B.S. Degree in Zoology from N.C. State University with high honors in 1976. Upon graduating from the UNC School of Dentistry in 1980, he began his comprehensive general dentistry practice in New Bern, North Carolina. His philosophy of care has always been a commitment to continuing education. Dr. Hart received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1995 and then received his Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2006. In order to reach this level, Dr. Hart has completed over 2,000 hours of postgraduate training. From 1993 to 1999, Dr. Hart completed over 800 hours of continuing education in practice management with the Pride Institute. During this time, he joined their staff as a faculty speaker and later as a mentor for new students in the program.

As a member of the NC Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry, he strives to stay connected with the issues facing dentistry. With membership in the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Amercian Association of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Hart continues to stay up to date with the latest in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.


While practicing in New Bern, Dr. Hart has authored over 170 articles for a local paper covering a wide range of topics in dentisitry. He is also active with the Merci Clinic of New Bern. This clinic provides care for those patients that do not have the financial means for dental care and do not qualify for government assisted programs. Dr. Hart also participates in the D.D.S. program (Donated Dental Services) a national program consisting of dentists and dental labs that provide care for the less fortunate at no cost. Dr. Hart has served as president of the Craven Jones Pamlico Dental Society three times and served as president of the NC Academy of General Dentistry in 2006. During his term, Dr. Hart developed the curriculum for the NC Master track program. This program allows doctors to receive their Masters in the AGD in 4 years.
